“Never Pass Up a Chance to be Blessed!”
The Bible tells us, “Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand, to do it. Say not unto thy neighbor, Go, and come again, and tomorrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.” Proverbs 3: 27-28
Years ago, when we first moved to Haiti, we rented a house high up in the mountains. We had only just started speaking a little Creole. Nearly every night we could hear a baby crying in the distance. We did not know what to do, but we should have tried harder to find out.
After about a week, the crying stopped. A poor lady was walking down the road in front of our house and she stopped at our gate. We could see the pain in her eyes. She told us that her baby died “because she was hungry.” That sent a pain through our hearts! We could feel her pain. From that day on, we have always tried to “listen to our hearts.” Never again do we want to say, “Go and come again and I will give it to you…” Tomorrow may be too late.
