“Judge Not, That Ye Be Not Judged.” Matthew 7:1
My sweet mother went to be with the Lord a few years ago. She was a saint. She paid her tithes, went to church, helped people and did not believe in talking bad about anyone, or gossiping. You could say she practically “walked on water.” I really wanted to be more like my mother, but I already had other qualities my mother did not have… some were not that good.
My mom always had people at her house and mostly, “strange people.” They were ones that were kind of the “rejects” and she had some crazy friends, too. One of her friends was a real gossip, I’ll just call her “Tonya.” She was always talking about someone, and always “judging.”
One day, Bobby and I had come back to the area to visit my mother, and we stopped at a little cafeteria, not far from my mom’s house. We were sitting there, minding our own business, when “Tonya” come over to our table. She had long, straggly hair, which was never combed… bad breath, hair under her arms, and a little wart on her nose. She came straight over to our table with a “word from the Lord” to give me. “Sister Sherry, the Lord told me to tell you, that you wear too much make-up and God is not pleased with you!” I looked up at Bobby for help, but he conveniently had a mouthful of food and just kept on chewing. I looked at her and said, “Sister Tonya,” it might be a sin for me to wear make-up, but it’s a greater sin for some of us “not to!” And I looked right at her and continued eating. She got so mad at me and turned around and left!
We would all do good if we followed Matthew 7:1- “Judge not, that ye be not judged; for with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged.” We find out in life, that the ones who judge, are not doing anything for the Kingdom of God. When we’re busy for the Lord, we don’t have any time to judge.

P.S. I really should have told her, “Every old barn needs a new coat of paint.”
