“Stop Crying Over Saul…I’ve Given You a David!”
1 Samuel chapter 16 is a sad story of how King Saul had disobeyed the Lord, and now the kingdom was about to be “rent” from the hand of Saul. In 1 Samuel 16:1, we see Samuel the prophet still mourning and crying over Saul and his disobedience. But God did not feel sorry for Saul or for Samuel. “And the Lord said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” Then, in 1 Samuel 16:13, the Bible says, “…and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.”
Sometimes, when we want something, the Lord may not give us what we want! No matter how much we complain and cry and whine, that won’t move the hand of God because “God has a better plan.” So, “don’t cry over Saul… because God has given you a “David!”
“So are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:9
Have a great day and trust God because “His ways are higher than our ways.”
