Word from the Mission Field

“The Spirit of Fear.”

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” II Timothy 1:7

We see the elderly Apostle Paul, who had been imprisoned for the Gospel, beaten, shipwrecked, abandoned, and much more. He had “stripes” all over his body from the beatings… Now, he’s writing to Timothy, telling him, “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Fear is a terrible, horrible thing. Someone once said, “You could die from the fear of the fall…” How true. When the doctor says, “I want to see you in my office,” you can automatically feel the “spirit of fear,” crawling up inside you. Sometimes, it can be so bad, it can make you sick. And most times, that “thing” that you fear, does not even come to pass. The devil likes to torment you, and he does this with “fear.” The Bible says, “fear hath torment.” I John 4:18

Sometimes, a child will jump from a high point, into his father’s arms. Is he afraid? No. Why? Because “perfect love casts out fear.” The child is so much in love with his father, that he trusts him. That child has no fear. He knows his father loves him, so despite the fact that “he may fall,” he’s not even thinking about it!!! He is “jumping into love!”

That is what we must keep in mind today. Do not fear. Satan loves to torment us through fear, but we must remember that wherever we go, whatever we do, whoever we face, we are jumping into the arms of a great, big, awesome, loving God! He’s not about to let one thing happen to us!!!

Today, know already that Satan is going to try to attack you with fear and you are going to put your big foot, on his scrawny little head! He is under your foot!!! You will not; you cannot fear! There is too, too, much love so, go ahead and “jump!” Make that step and do not fear! It’s gonna be ok!!
