“What Must I Do to Have Eternal Life?”

In Luke 18:18 a certain ruler asked Jesus, “Good Master, what shall I do to have eternal life?” Jesus said, “You know the commandments.” Then the rich, young ruler said, “I have kept all the commandments since my youth.” Then Jesus said, “Yet, thou lackest one thing… sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven; and come, follow Me.”

The sad thing is that he could not “sell what he had to give to the poor.” The Lord would still bless him and multiply his gift back. To me, this is one of the saddest verses in the New Testament. He had done everything and kept all the Commandments, but his money came first. Everything we have will pass away. “We can never lose by giving.” Have a great day.
