Answering the Call…

“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, “Lord, here am I. Send me.” Isaiah 6:8

Nowadays, when missionaries are asked to serve in a foreign field, they want to find out “what the job security” is like? How much will they be paid? What about medical benefits? Who will supply the car, the transportation, and housing? What about vacation pay and much more?

I guess we should have thought that through, but we said ‘yes’ before we even had a car or a place to live! But God provided enough to rent a house, and the Lord gave the money to buy a rugged Toyota! God was merciful to us two missionaries who didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into!! We moved to Haiti on July 1st, 1991!

We had a 15-minute “live” radio broadcast on a Christian station in the States. Back then, there was no way to get a radio station out in time for our radio broadcasts. So, we had to do this “live” from a “Haitian phone both!!”), and “find a Haitian phone booth” so that we could start live at 11:45 am!

We would go early because there were just a few phone booths, and “we had to pretend to talk,” so we could be on the phone live at 11:45! Most times, the Haitians were beating on our phone booth (with us in it) and rocking it back and forth to get us to stop!! Ha! We did that for over a year (without being killed!!)…

There’s no telling what happens when you “say yes” to Jesus!

We would do it all over again!
