Fiery Coals…
The first time we hired Mezelus, a Haitian worker, we found out that he was so mean! We had a big fight with him one day, and we had to fire him! But, soon after, he became “very ill.” Our workers carried him to our orphanage and laid him on a bench. He was “still mean,” but he was dying. We took him to the best hospital and took good care of him.
Once he got better, he visited our Haitian church. As the Pastor was preaching, he surprised everyone by coming right up front!! He took the microphone right out of the Pastor’s hands! Everyone was holding their breath!! He talked about the trouble he had caused us, “especially Madamn Sherry,” and how we had taken care of him when he was sick, paid all his hospital bills, prayed for him, etc.
Right then, he said, “I want to be converted and become a Christian!” We all rejoiced that day he got baptized and became one of the sweetest people we had known… because “a sinner had come home!”
Jesus said, “If your enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; if he be thirsty, give him water to drink; for you shall heap coals of fire upon his head; and the Lord shall reward you.” Proverbs 25:21-22
