What to do when “bad news happens…”
We all get “bad news!” There’s nothing worse than bad news!”
Hezekiah was king over Judah. He was a righteous king. He obeyed the voice of God! He destroyed all the idols in his land. He led his people to follow the Lord. So, you would think that nothing bad would ever happen to this righteous king. But one day, the Prophet Isaiah came to the King with a “Word from the Lord!” The prophet gave the Word… “Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live!” (Isaiah 38:1)
It would have been bad enough to hear the words, “thou shalt die,” but the Prophet said, “Thou shalt die, and not live!” That’s really bad! The Bible says, “Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed [and…] wept sore!” (Iasiah 38:2-3) You know the story… God turned the Prophet Isaiah around and sent him back with a new message.
“I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add thy days fifteen years.” (Isaiah 38:5) Sometimes when we need a genuine miracle, we may have to turn our face to the wall and call on “the God of miracles!!” Have a great day! Sherry
