Word from the Mission Field

“Man looks on the outside, but God looks on the heart…”

In 1st Samuel, chapter 16, God is getting ready to give Israel a new leader. Saul has “messed up” his life and the Prophet Samuel is so downhearted because Saul could not obey the Lord! God is going to appoint another leader in Saul’s place. God sends the Prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse. He has “lots of big, tall sons.” Samuel is sure he can find a new leader. When he gets to Jesse’s house, he sees lots of tall, good looking sons but God says, “I haven’t chosen any of these.” The Prophet asks Jesse if he has another son. Jesse doesn’t even want to show the last one, as he tends the sheep, plays the harp, and sings songs to God! Who would want him? When David comes in from being with his sheep, he is a smaller, good looking young man! God says, “He’s mine!” Man looks on the outside, but God looks on the heart! Have a blessed day. Sherry
