“It’s Better to be Humble…”
There are scriptures and stories in the Bible that teach us to be humble.
“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.” (Isa. 2:11)
One of the most arrogant people I have ever met was the pastor of a large church. There was a group from his church that was coming to Haiti with me… (Bobby was away, ministering in a church.)
It was going to be a four-hour trip across the lake in a “leaky Haitian boat!” (Getting to LaGonave Island was tough!) I had seen his big church and I had friends who went there. But, from the moment I met him, I discerned his “haughty” and “arrogant” attitude. He insisted on “coming with the team!” (I had never had a pastor who insisted on coming with the team.)
It was a good team, but the pastor made it difficult! He was constantly criticizing me. However, I later found out that this arrogant pastor had a young “girlfriend” who was on the team! (No wonder he insisted on coming!)
We had a great team, but the pastor gave me a lot of problems. The Bible says, “For the day of the Lord of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up, and he shall be brought low.” Isa. 2:11
After a short time, he left the church. I have never heard anything more about him. It is always better to be “little before the Lord” and “humble in your walk through life!”
Have a great day,
Sherry
