“The Long Way Around.”
And when it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people repent (or turn back) when they see war, and return to Egypt.” Exodus 13:17
I had always wondered why God had led the children of Israel the “long way around” instead of letting them take the shortcut. He knew they had never fought a battle and the Philistines were great warriors. If they ever saw the Philistines, they would have turned back to Egypt. But God knew that it would take years of battles to make them strong. They would be coming up against the greatest of enemies before they got to the promised land. Ever wonder why you are fighting that battle? You are probably in “training” for the big one. God never wants His people to turn their back and run. So today, face that enemy and learn to fight! It will make you tough and it will take you all the way to the promised land! Have a blessed day! Sherry
