The “Miry Clay.”
This song means a lot to me. We used to sing it in our little country church… “He brought me out of the miry clay. He set my feet on a rock to stay. He puts a song in my heart to stay. A song of Praise. Hallelujah.”
David said, in Psalms 40:1-3, “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He hath put a new song in my mouth.” Many years ago, in Haiti, we had a team that came to visit. We went to a village, but then our truck broke down when we were going to leave. We had no place to put the team, so we set out on foot, at night! The rain was so bad that our feet sank down deep into the mud at each step! The only thing we could think about was that song, “He brought me out of the miry clay.” After what seemed like hours, in the mud and the darkness, we could finally see the light of our little motel! You may be facing something like this. You may feel that your feet are stuck in “the miry clay!” But, never fear! This will pass, and God will deliver you from “the miry clay,” and He will set your feet on the “rock,” to stay!” You are on the Winning Side!
