Word from the Mission Field

“I am confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

The older we get, the more we think about death. We had a very dear friend pass away several days ago. He was in excellent health, and while checking on his cows, he didn’t know it, but he was having a heart attack. He died shortly after.

This man was a very successful man whose family had built a huge business from the ground up. They had taken a stand for the Lord and the company was compassionate and very giving. The father and then the son, who died recently, were devout men of God… kind, humble, and helpful. They were what every Christian should be.

When the son, age 60, died, we were all in shock! Why would God take such a wonderful person from us? Then, as reading Genesis 5:24, I understood it… “And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.” Wow! One day, while walking and talking to God, friend to friend, his feet were walking on the ground, and as he lifted up one foot, it came down in Heaven! Enoch probably had such a close relationship with God, that as they were talking one day, God probably said, “Come on over to my house…” and Enoch must have said, “I think I will!”

Enoch had such a close relationship with the Lord, that they were friends, close friends, and the Lord took him home. That’s what happened to our friend, Jake. “He was not… for God took him home.”

One day, this will happen to each of us who serve the Lord and love Him. We look for Jesus to come but while waiting, “the Lord may be more anxious to see us.” Sherry
