“The Potter Knows the Clay.”
Living in Haiti, I have had the opportunity to see “potters” working with clay in Petionville. It was amazing to watch the mounds of pure, “gooey,” seemingly, “good-for-nothing” clay, turn into the most beautiful vessels in the hands of the potter. I watched carefully as the clay oozed between his fingers and at certain times, he would apply pressure to mold it in certain ways. Each vessel was different and took a certain amount of pressure.
And as Bible says, the potter would sometimes “make the clay vessel all over,” because the potter was a professional.
I listened to the song that was sung by the Perrys this morning, titled, “The Potter Knows the Clay.” Sometimes when we go through a trial, we cannot understand why we go through the trial and why it is so hard. The “potter” is “working the clay,” and He will never put too much pressure on it, because He knows how much pressure the clay can take… “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel as it seemed good to the potter to make it.” Jeremiah 18:4
