Word from the Mission Field

“More than Enough.”

There are a lot of sermons about giving. Most people love to give, but some people give, and when they give, they just “drop it in the offering plate.” In Exodus, Moses was getting ready to build the tabernacle. The people had never really been taught how to give offerings, only “sacrificial offerings.” So, listen to this… “The children of Israel brought a willing offering unto the Lord, every man, and woman, whose heart made them willing to bring for all manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses.” Exodus 35:29

Then, something usual happened… the people started giving and being so excited to give, that the Lord had to stop them. And they, the workers of the tabernacle, spoke unto Moses saying, “The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the Lord commanded to make. So the people were restrained from giving.” Exodus 36:5, 6

Our God has always been the God of more than enough, more than enough manna, more than enough quail, more than enough oil in our cruise, more than enough fishes and loaves. We are His people. When we give and sacrifice, He blesses us back with “more than enough!” The Bible tells us, “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7

Today, when you are giving, give “cheerfully.” Don’t give like a “sourpuss!” It’s better for you to keep your offering, rather than to give it, and regret it. But, when you give “cheerfully,” no matter what, you will meet the “God of more than enough!” Have a great Sunday!!!
