I read some of the comments when I posted the story about the “trial of your faith…” Those comments, and some in particular, touched my heart so much. I had tears in my eyes when I read some of them. I could feel the pain that some of you are going through. You feel that you are “hanging on a rope that has been thrown over a cliff.” I understand that. Bobby and I have faced so many trials since we have been married… Not having any money, Bobby facing a death sentence of cancer, our own daughter struggling with severe health problems, and much more.

The “trial of your faith” is what Bobby went through when we had no money and he shut himself up in a shack full of rats and fasted on nothing but water for 21 days! We didn’t even have the money to rent a place. I had to stay with my parents and our two kids while Bobby was fasting…

No one understands your trial like Job… A very successful man, devout, who had served God with all of his heart. Yet, God allowed the “hedge around Job” to be broken. Why? Because God had “confidence in Job!” Job lost everything he had… All of his cattle, his camels; all of his animals. He “went bankrupt,” and everything he had was “repossessed.” And if that wasn’t enough, “all of his children were killed, in one day!” And, as if that wasn’t enough, he lost his health and was covered with boils. And then he lost friends, and everyone was condemning him because they thought God was punishing him. Job didn’t even have a Bible to read, or a church to go to. He didn’t have an iPhone with scriptures or songs that he could download. All he had was “faith in an invisible God,” who seemed to be miles away.

I know your “God” seems to be miles away, but He is NOT. He is right there with you in the fire. He sees your pain, and He knows how you feel. But He also knows that “you will come forth out of the fire” and you will pass the test! For “we walk by faith, not by sight.” (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Take one day at a time. You will come forth, and you will put your foot on the devil’s head! God has never left you. “You are still the apple of His eye!” We love you! Bobby and Sherry
