Word from the Mission Field

“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh; is there anything too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27

Sometimes we can believe God for the things we know He can do… But what about those big things, that take a real miracle? Is He still God? Is there anything too hard for Him?

Bobby’s real mother, Bernie, had been in and out of mental institutions for 21 years. She went from Chattahoochee, Florida to Milledgeville, Georgia. Back in those days, they were called, “mental institutions or insane asylums.” How could anyone get out after 21 years? Even if you were “sane” when you went in, by the time 21 years later rolled around, those insane spirits would have attacked you! Imagine, day and night, hearing people cry and scream and do strange things? So, are we really still serving a “Miracle Working God?” You betcha!

I was dating Bobby when he told me about his “real mother,” who had been locked up in institutions since he was a little boy. Once, when they let her out to visit, she chased Bobby with a butcher knife and tried to kill him! He was just a small boy and he ran and crawled under the porch of his house.

But, after we were married, a woman in a prayer meeting gave a “word from the Lord.” No one had ever known about Bobby’s mother because he was embarrassed and never told anyone. But the word came forth, from a lady named “Theresa,” that God had seen his mother in the “insane asylum” and that God was going to heal her and bring her out and restore her mind!

We believed God could do anything… but we wondered “how” He would do it. One day, while Bernie (Bobby’s mother), was sitting in the lobby watching the “black and white TV set,” a man by the name of Oral Roberts was telling about miracles. He said, “If you need a miracle, come and lay your hand on the television set.” And with that, Bernie got up out of her chair and put her hand on his hand, as he prayed the prayer of faith! And something happened immediately! Suddenly, a “tight band,” that had been around her head for years, suddenly snapped! She could see the blue sky and hear the birds singing! She healed! Not only was she healed, but she got a job taking care of the doctor’s children. After a short time, she was released into Bobby’s care. We brought her home with us!

Today, that little “miracle” that you need, is in the hands of a “great, big God!” He is still the “God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Moses!” He is always the same, and He is still the God of all flesh, and no, there is “nothing too hard for God!” Sherry
