“Make the Best of a Bad Situation…”
All of us have “good days and bad days.” We all have unforeseen obstacles in our lives. We face sickness, trials, maybe a marriage gone wrong, getting fired from jobs, the boss is not treating you right, losing your home, having to move and much more. You suddenly find yourself in a “bad situation,” and you are not happy. Joseph was a godly young man who had two dreams. When he shared these dreams with his brothers, they began to hate him. They plotted against him and threw him into a pit. The pit had no water, and he was all alone. He could hear them laughing at him, making fun of him, and making plans to tell their father that he was dead. Joseph was in a bad situation, but it grew worse. A gang of merchants passed by and his brothers sold him to them, as a slave. He had to “make the best of a bad situation.” He had to learn a new language and new customs. But, he did not whine or cry or blame God. He did not feel sorry for himself. He had no Bible, no TV, no iPhone or iPad. He decided if he were going to be a prisoner, he would be the “best!” He would do such a great job that he would even make the “prison guard” look good! He could not listen to someone preaching or singing about the Lord, but he knew that if “God put him into that bad situation,” it was for a purpose and God would bring him out. And God did! Joseph ended up as the second in command under Pharaoh. If he had stayed at his home with his family, he would never have been in that high position, and he would never have been able to save the lives of his brethren, the tribe of Israel! Make the best of your bad situation! It too will pass, and you will come forth as “gold!” Amen! Sherry
