“There’s More For Us Than Against Us… You Just Can’t See Em!”

II Kings 6th Chapter… (I love this stuff!)

The evil King of Syria is constantly trying to attack Israel, but the Prophet Elisha is always on “God’s radar.” He knows when the attacks will come, and so he warns the King of Israel ahead of time. This happens several times and so the King of Syria wants to know, “Where is the leak?” His people tell him that, “Elisha knows what’s going on, even in your bedroom!” When the King of Syria finds out Elisha is in Dothan, he sends an army out to get him and capture Elisha! Here we see a great company of chariots, horses, men with spears and helmets on their heads, coming at night, surrounding the city to capture one skinny prophet who had no armed security, nothing! Elisha’s servant wakes early in the morning and looks out to see the multitudes surrounding the place where Elisha and his servant were. His servant says, “What shall we do?” Elisha tells him, “Fear not! For they that be with us are more than they that be with them!” Elisha prayed, “Lord, open his eyes.”

When the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, he saw the entire mountain covered with “HORSES AND CHARIOTS OF FIRE!” Then, Elisha prayed, “Lord, smite them with blindness!” The Lord smote the entire Syrian army with blindness… (This gets even better!) Elisha comes to the “now blinded Syrian army” and says, “Follow me and I will take you to the man whom you seek.” (They thought he was leading them to Elisha, but Elisha was leading them to Samaria to the King of Israel!)

When they get there, Elisha prayed that God would “open their eyes again!” Imagine their fear when they stood before the King of Israel! The King asked Elisha if he should kill them? Elisha said, “No, don’t kill them! Give them water and food to eat and send them back home!”

Today, you may feel that you are “surrounded by the enemy” and there is no way out, but the Word of God teaches us, “greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” I John 4:4

Have a great day and remember, “YOU” are on the winning side! Sherry
