“The Potter and the Clay…”
In Jeremiah 18, God gave a commandment to Prophet, Jeremiah, to go down to the “potter’s house.” God was going to speak to him and give the Prophet a lesson…
“Then I went down to the potter’s house, and, behold, he wrought a work on the wheels.” Jeremiah 18:3
A story is told of Phillip Keller, who was a great writer. He had gone to a village in the rugged Kush Mountains in Afghanistan. There, he was blessed to visit a potter. Just like the potter that Jeremiah saw, the potter was working on the “wheels.” (One wheel guided by his feet and the other wheel guided by his hands.) There was a lot of work involved in making a clay vessel fit for use.
“Looking for the Right Clay…”
The writer, Phillip, told how the old potter in Afghanistan went down by the river and spent a lot of time, picking out the “right clay.” He would hold it between his fingers. The old potter had to sift through a “lot of filth, grime, and smelly slime” to get just the right clay.
This is just what Jesus did when He came “looking for us.” He had to dig through a “lot of filth in our lives” to bring us up out of the pit so that He could use us! Just like our little guy, Moses, here at our Love A Child Children’s Home… He was dropped in a filthy outhouse by his mother. A good elderly Christian man came along and had to “go down into the filth” to bring “Moses” up! This is what God does in our life. He has a perfect plan for you! Sherry
