Word from the Mission Field

“Sometimes It Takes A Mountain…”

What a song I’ve been listening to… I think it was written by Mark Mathes. The first verse says, “Sometimes it takes a mountain, sometimes a troubled sea, sometimes it takes a desert, to get a hold of me…” This is what God has to do in our lives. When He cannot get our attention, he puts a “mountain” before us. Caleb said, “Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims (giants) were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out.” Joshua 14:12

Peter and disciples of Jesus faced a “troubled sea,” in a small boat when a great storm came upon it, threatening to sink the ship… Jesus came “walking on the water” to meet His disciples, who were “afraid of the spirit…” But Peter called out to Jesus and began “walking on the water to meet Him.” Matthew 14:24-25

Moses faced the Sinai Desert, leading the Israelites towards the promised land… they had no food or water for an estimated 1,000,000 plus people “in the middle of nowhere.” Sometimes, God lets us face a “mountain, a troubled sea, or a desert,” to get our attention. He wants us to know that “we are not in control!” He is!

I hope you can listen to this song today and lift your hands to Heaven and “give it up to Jesus!” He is on your side!!! Sherry
