Word from the Mission Field

Caught in the Net!

“Ever been caught in a net?” Have you ever watched a fish in a net? It just flops around, hoping to find a way out… but never does.

David in the Bible describes the perils he has been going through, “like a fish in the net.” For many years (Bible scholars say, perhaps 20 years) King Saul was chasing David, but, David did not want to put his hands “on the Lord’s anointed,” or, “once anointed,” which was King Saul.

David and his small army were hunted by Saul and then, of course, by his own son, Absolom. Absolom had become jealous of his father and “stole the hearts of the people, who once loved David.” It was hard for David to fight against his own son, and Absolom had built up a huge army against his father. How sad… but David said, “For He, (the Lord), shall pluck my foot out of the net.” Psalms 15:57

We all have enemies, as I have said before… someone is watching you who is “envious” of you, maybe a worker on a job, or someone in your family, etc. They may have set a “trap” for you, hoping you would fall into it. But, today, the Lord is saying through His Word, “I will pluck your foot out of the net that someone has cast for you.” Have a victorious day!
