Word from the Mission Field

“Why Sit Still Here Until We Die.”

In II Kings 6, we see that Ben-Hadad, king of Syria, attacked Samaria and at the same time, there was a great famine in that land. In fact, some people were “eating their children.” Food could not be found. An ass’ head sold for 80 pieces of silver and they were even selling “dove’s manure.”

Four lepers had already been banned from their city, due to their leprosy. They were sitting there, “just waiting to die.” They talked among themselves, “If we say, we will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now, therefore come, and let us fall into the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.” II Kings 7:3-6

They got up “early in the morning,” and went into the camp of their enemies, the Syrians. But, the Lord had already made the Syrians hear a great noise of the sound of chariots and horses, and they left “everything, and fled!”

Can you imagine those four outcasts, the four lepers, as they went into one tent, and ate, and drank and carried off silver, gold, and raiment! Then, they went and told their people, the Samaritans, who ran into the camp, took over, gathered food, raiment, gold, silver… everything!

The keys words are, “Why sit still here until we die?” That’s what some of you are doing. That is why the Lord gave me this scripture. God has told you to do something, and you are just sitting there, “waiting to die.” Maybe not waiting to die a death, but you are just sitting there, afraid to make a decision, and your whole spirit will just “die,” because you are afraid to make that “decision!” You and God know about this decision and you are “waiting on God,” just sitting there, but God is “waiting for you to get up and go!” Maybe you are “afraid you will make the wrong decision,” so, tell the Lord about it. “Lord, I’m just sitting here, waiting to die (in my spirit); I’m afraid to make a decision. Forgive me, Lord, but I’m going on faith! I don’t want to sit here and die, I’m going out to meet the enemy, head-on, unless you tell me, no!”

This message may not be for everyone, but, “it is for someone!” Don’t sit there and die! God is on your side! Love, Sherry
