“Dig Your Ditches!”
Some people limit God in what He wants to do for them. Isn’t it amazing, when reading the Bible, that God would always make the problem “larger and more difficult” because He wants you to know that He is God, and even if you “make it harder,” God will do it!!!
In II Kings 3, three kings, the king of Judah, the king of Israel, and the king of Edom, are going to battle against the king of Moab. They took their cattle and they all traveled seven days’ journey towards Moab. All of a sudden, they found themselves with no water to drink for them or their cattle. They were in a mess!!
King Jehoshaphat said, “Find me a prophet that we can ask him.” And so, they found Elisha. He asked for a minstrel to play some anointed music, and the hand of the Lord came upon him!
Then he said, “Make this valley full of ditches!!! You won’t see wind or rain coming, but God is going to fill your ditches in the valleys, full of water!”
Elisha could have asked them to dig “a ditch,” but he wanted to make it hard for God so that the people could see great miracles of water!!!
Then he added, “And this is but a light thing in the sight of the Lord; He will deliver the Moabites in your hand!”
So, today, don’t just pray a prayer and give God a small thing to do! He loves to do “big things,” and what you are going to ask “is but a light thing for the Lord!” Yes! So, don’t just dig “one ditch.”
Dig more than enough and let God fill them!!!’ Hallelujah! Sherry
