“He had a ‘Praising Contract,’ with the Lord…”

“And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, (each 27 feet) he (David) sacrificed oxen and fatlings. And David danced before the Lord with all his might…” II Samuel 6:13-14.

He was just a simple shepherd boy, the youngest of his seven brothers… he was the keeper of the sheep… the “low man on the totem pole.” But all those days he was keeping sheep, he was praising the Lord… he was singing and making Psalms… until one day, he had to fight a lion, then a bear, then Goliath, and then many enemies, the Philistines… and God delivered him from them all and made him King.

So yes, as they brought the ark back from Judah, from the house of Obed-Edom, where it had stayed, “David danced before the Lord with all his might!” He had a “praising contract” with the Lord! He couldn’t keep still… every 27 feet that the ark went, David had to stop and “praise God and dance before the Lord!” (It must have taken them a long time to bring it all the way to the tabernacle with David stopping, praising, and dancing every 27 feet!!!) Imagine that!

We have a “praising contract” with the Lord, too… Look what He’s done for us! He has washed us in His blood, saved us, redeemed us; He has forgiven us, made us a new creature! He has healed us, protected us, blessed us, answered our prayers, and promised, “He would never leave us!” And, “He’s coming back again!” Whew! We have a “Praising Contract” with the Lord!!! So, get busy! Keep your end of the contract! Begin to praise Him for what He’s done and what He’s going to do! Sherry
