Word from the Mission Field

Word from the Mission Field

In 1 Kings, Chapter 18, Elijah had just killed 450 false prophets of the god Baal. When this happened, Jezebel, the wife of King Ahad, threatened to kill Elijah the prophet… So, Elijah “left town in a hurry,” fleeing from Jezebel. He traveled a day’s journey and found a juniper tree and fell asleep under it. God sent an angel of the Lord to “bake him a cake and bring a cruise of water to him!” But Elijah fell asleep again and God’s angel woke him and told him to “eat again” for his journey… Elijah did and traveled 40 more days and nights and ended up in cave, hiding from Jezebel.

Have you ever felt like “finding a cave to hide in?” Maybe you were trying to “run from your problems, but you can never “run from your problems.” Elijah tried doing it for 40 day and nights, but his problems “still followed him!” God found him hiding in cave with “his tail between his legs,” in fear of a woman! Elijah had just finished calling fire down from Heaven to consume a wooded sacrifice to prove that God was real, and now he was “hiding in a cave from a woman!” God asked Elijah, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” (Or, “What do you think you’re doing here, Elijah?”) Elijah answered, in so many words, “I’m the last man standing! I’m all alone. I’ve been hiding in a cave from Jezebel!” God replies, “I have 7,000 that have not bowed their knees to Baal…”

Today, you may think you are hiding in a cave from your problems, but you cannot hide and you cannot run! You must face your problems. You’re not “the last man standing!” There are “angels” you cannot see, and God is on your side!! “Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world!” 1 John 4:4

Have a great day! Sherry
