Word from the Mission Field

Just Because You Killed a Giant.”

We all know the story of David and Goliath. David hasted and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine, (Goliath, the giant). “And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a smooth stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine (Goliath) in his forehead, and he fell upon his face to the ground.” I Samuel 17:48-49

We all have a “Goliath in our lives.” It could be a person who causes us trouble, a sickness, an attack of some kind… It is something that causes us to “have to fight a giant!” But, that’s not the end of the story.

In II Samuel 21, we find King David going into battle but this time, he is older and weaker… “and David waxed faint.” II Samuel 21:15

“And Ishbi-Benob, which was of the sons of the giant. The weight of whose spear weighed, three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being girded with a new sword, thought to have slain David. But Abishai, the son of Zeruiah rescued him.” II Samuel 21:16-17

Verse 22… “These four (giants) were born to the giant in Gath, and fell by the hand of David and by the hand of his servants.”

Just because you have killed a giant,” that doesn’t mean the battle is over! There are always “more giants,” to fight, but, “the battle is not yours, it is the Lord’s.” He shall fight for you and you shall hold your peace.” Exodus 14:14

Have a great day, but expect “more giants!” Sherry
