The Little Things
Everyone seems to be consumed with “big things.” Christians are always praying, searching for what the Lord will have them do, but when He speaks to something “small” they are disappointed. When Bobby was 16 years old, he was healed instantly of a speech problem that he had since he was small. He could make sounds but he could not talk so that anyone could understand him. Yet, when he was six, God spoke to him in an audible voice, and said, “Bobby, I have called you to preach the Gospel around the world.”
He could not talk, at least, not until the age of 16, when he was saved and healed all in one night! He really thought that God was going to send him immediately “into all the world,” but that’s not what happened. We began our ministry on street corners, in small, African American sections of town. We did this for years. We were so poor, we’d have to borrow chairs from the funeral home to seat the people.
We had a soapbox and we plugged our microphone into Sister Baber’s bedroom window. “Offerings” were so small, sometimes $1.00 or $1.75 a night, and sometimes it was nothing. We were so poor we could barely afford gas to get to the next town, but our calling started with “something small.”
God knew that if we could not do “something small,” He could never use our lives in a big way. Ever notice how God uses “small things” in the Bible to do great things?
“For who hath despised the day of small things?” Zechariah 4:10
Have a great day and take every chance to do the “small things” so that God can use to do the “big things!”
