Word from the Mission Field

“Broken Ships.”

God wants us to be “friendly” to everyone. But God does not want us to “join ourselves” to those who do not serve Him. Sometimes, we have a friendship or a relationship with someone that God does not approve of. Things seem to go “from bad to worse.” You are irritated but can’t figure out why.

In II Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, was a Godly king. When he got into trouble, he always repented. When he was outnumbered, he prayed and God answered. But, it would have been better if Jehoshaphat could have chosen “friends who believed in God.”

After God had just delivered King Jehoshaphat and Judah from a war with three kings: “and after this, did Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, join himself with Ahaziah, king of Israel, who did wickedly. And he joined himself with him to make ships to go to Tarshish and they made the ships in Eziongeber.” Then, Eliezer, the prophet prophesied against Jehoshaphat saying, “Because thou hast joined thyself with Ahaziah, the Lord hath broken thy works. And the ships were broken, that they were not able to go to Tarshish.” II Chronicles 20:35-37

When you “join yourself” to the wrong person, nothing “right” can come out of this! If God has to, He will “break your ships,” to save your soul. He will break your ships, to get you out of that situation, no matter what it takes… and all because He loves you.

So, if something “just doesn’t seem right” with that person, no matter if it is a business deal, a working relationship, or other, don’t wait for God to “break your ships!” Walk Away! Have a great day!!!
