“Your Best Gift…”

“And when they (the wise men) were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11

Just think about the “wise men” who wanted to see Jesus, the Christ child, so badly that they “followed a star” every night, not knowing where they were going and followed it for two years or more. (The scripture now refers to Jesus as a child and not a baby. He is now “a young child.”) They had been traveling for two years (probably by camel) to worship Jesus…

The gold represented his kingship, and the frankincense and myrrh represented his death and burial. Today, lay aside the anxiety of Christmas for a short time and begin to thank God for His gift, His most priceless gift, Jesus! How blessed you and I are just to know Him and the power of His presence! After all, “your best gift” didn’t arrive from Amazon! It came straight down from Heaven! Amazon is running three weeks behind on deliveries right now, but “Jesus is never late!” He’s always “on time!”
