Word from the Mission Field

“Stockholm Syndrome” was first discovered in Stockholm, Sweden, in August 1973. Four employees of the Deutsche Kreditbank were held hostage in a vault for six days. During this time, they “bonded” and became friends with those who held them captive. They had been accustomed to their captivity, or you could say, “accustomed” to their “chains.”

Sometimes, this is what happens to a lot of Christians…they become accustomed to the chains of their bad marriage, or to the chains of the job they hate or accustomed to the words that someone has told them, “you’ll never amount to anything!” The longer we are in these “chains,” the more comfortable we begin to feel. We feel that we “deserve this mess!” But, that is a lie of the devil!

The man in the Bible, who “lived in the tombs” (Mark 5), lived in the mountains, “crying” and cutting himself with sharp stones. He had “invisible chains” on his life! But Jesus set him free!

The Bible says, “ If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” John 8:36

You DO NOT have to live in this bondage, ever again!
