”It’s Not How You Start…”

When we hear stories of well-known evangelists and pastors who have “fallen away” from the gospel, it brings pain to our hearts and tears to our eyes. It can happen to anyone, but that’s what “grace and repentance” are for.
King David fell away, but he repented and paid the price. It’s not how we start out but how “we finish the race” that counts. Years ago, a friend of ours, who had been pastoring a church “backslid” from God and started drinking. Something had happened to make her discouraged. She ended up in the hospital.

We went to see her because we loved her so much. She could not bear to look at Bobby because she was so ashamed. She was going to quit the ministry. Bobby told her, “Get up and repent and keep ongoing. Don’t stay in that ‘pigpen.’ Ask God to forgive you and keep on going!“

She did!

We must all “run the race with patience” and keep on going because it’s about “endurance.”

“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” Matthew 24:13

“Keep on, keeping on!”
