Word from the Mission Field

“Fear Not.” Sometimes, it’s an easy thing to say, but when you are in the middle of a crisis, “the spirit of fear, tries to overcome you. Some people fear “going into surgery,” or “interviewing for a job,” or “going to get the news from the doctor,” or “just looking at the bills” each month. Others fear different things, “storms, airplane flights,” many things… Some children fear a “test” so badly, they get sick!

Fear is a horrible thing, put on us by Satan and when we realize that “fear is a spirit,” we can conquer it. “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.” ll Timothy 1:7

Bobby and I and other missionaries live here in Haiti, fighting daily the “spirit of fear.” There are gangs in the streets, some of which just shot at a bus going to the Dominican Republic two days ago. Each time we have to pick up someone from the airport, we must pray and conquer the “spirit of fear,” because there are gangs on the street between us and the airport… in fact, they are all over Haiti. But, in the middle of all this, the Gospel must go on. Children must be fed. The sick must have medical care and prayer. Each morning, we must “bind the spirit of fear,” and ask God to “loose His angels around us.” Remember today, that “fear is a spirit.” It is an “evil spirit.” And remember that “God did not give you this evil spirit of fear… but our God has given ‘you’ the spirit of power, (over the devil) and the spirit of love, (which conquers all) and the spirit of a sound mind! Get up and start today with praise!” Do not let the “spirit of fear” have the victory! God is “more than enough!!
