“Sheltered in the Arms of God…”
Bobby and I always wake up early…the children here at Love A Child wake up every morning to the song, “Every Praise” (at the highest volume, ha!) Then, they play all sorts of praise music.
Bobby and I love these songs, but we also love some of the old ones that were written because someone had an experience with God, and they wrote about it…i.e., “It is Well, With My Soul,” etc. This morning, I listened to Dottie Rambo’s song, “Sheltered in the Arms of God.” She tells the story of how she had been struggling with so many things in her life, so she took her guitar and went to the beach to sit and pray. All of a sudden, storm clouds came up, and the wind blew, and trash even blew up on the beach. The clouds were dark… and she began to think about her situation and what a storm her life was in!
Then, she said, she actually “felt the touch of a hand on her shoulder,” and she wrote the words, “I feel the touch of hands so kind and tender…” and wrote the rest of the song “Sheltered in the Arms of God.”
That’s how life is. When the “winds of life begin to blow hard” and “things get dark,” we sometimes think that God is not there…but, “He was never nearer…” He has always been there and will be there, through the dark storms of life…”
Jesus is saying, “It is I. Be not afraid.” John 6:20 You are “sheltered in the arms of God!”
