“Every Praise.”
I have always had a hard time getting our Love A Child kids (especially the older boys) up and out of bed in the morning, especially Jonathan and David (twins). I have tried everything in the book, believe me! That is when I decided to give “Kamy” (one of our workers, who is over the boys), a bullhorn! Kamy had never had a bullhorn (megaphone) so I had to give him some instructions. I told him, “There are 10 levels for volume. Put it on 4.” And I told him, “there is a siren, but don’t touch that! Just wake up everyone at 4:30 a.m.” (Bobby and I are awake at 3:30 a.m.). I wanted to train all my kids to “get up,” pray, make their beds, clean their rooms, take their shower and then, study, or see what needs to be done. Then, get ready for school.
Kamy had never had a “megaphone in his hands before,” and so, “he turned on the siren and turned the volume up to 10!” It scared us all half to death! After several months of Kamy “moving the volume to number 10,” we finally got him down to a “four,” and them all trained to get up at 4:30! After that, I decided to change the morning atmosphere to “praise!”
I found a song by Hezekial Walker called, “Every Praise.” (I love African American praise and worship songs! I learned how to play the tambourine in a black church. But this song starts my day off!!! The children love it… It says, “Every praise is to our God!!” I could listen to that song all day long! I would look out at the top floor of the Love A Child Children’s Home and hear “Every praise” and see our girls dancing while they were working!!! (Well, they were actually doing more dancing than working! Ha). And, the boys, on the floor below, too!
King David said best when he said, “Let every thing that hath breath, praise the Lord!” Psalm 150:6
God deserves “every breath of our praise” every minute of our days!!! Have a great day and listen to that song, if you have a chance, Sherry
