Word from the Mission Field

In Isaiah 41:12-13, God gives us a promise about our enemies (the ones you have now!) “Thou shall seek them and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.”

“For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not: I will help thee.”

These verses excite me so much! We live here in Haiti and boy, do we ever have enemies. Just a few moments ago, our ambulance tried to get down the road to take someone to the hospital and “thugs” had the road blocked with huge rocks! No one could go around it! So, we called one of our Haitian workers to “bring the front end loader!” He moved the rocks and the ambulance went through! Jealousy is an enemy. When someone is jealous, or they are angry, they take it out on someone. But, the Lord is on our side. He is going to take our “right hand,” and fight the battle.

But, why the “right hand?” Why doesn’t it say, “He’ll take your left hand?” In the Bible, the “right hand” was used to refer to many things… good things. “He will take your right hand and lead you from your enemies.” He will take your right hand, and lift you up when you fall.” He will guide you with strength and goodness with your “right hand.” Why fear? God is right there with you and He will uphold you, with your “right hand,” and carry you all the way to victory!! Ain’t God good!
