Word from the Mission Field

“Be Wise as Serpents”

Have you ever felt that you have been “taken advantage of?” This mostly happens to people, God’s people, who have a good heart, a humble heart, a caring heart. Some people “get taken advantage of” because they have no “self-worth,” or sometimes because they are trying to please people as they don’t want to make anyone angry.

In II Kings 20:13, the good King Hezekiah made a horrible mistake and was greatly taken advantage of. He was the king of Judah and the keeper of all the gold and riches in the House of God! The Lord had entrusted Hezekiah, who was a good man, but a man of little self-worth. When the king of Babylon came to see King Hezekiah, the Bible says that he “hearkened unto them” and shewed the king of Babylon all the precious silver, gold, ointments, riches… The Bible says, “there was nothing that King Hezekiah did not show them!”

The Prophet Isaiah came to the king and prophesied all the evil that was going to come upon his kingdom for doing this. Hezekiah had been taken advantage of” and it cost him the kingdom. The king of Babylon would steal all the treasures in the house of the Lord. Hezekiah’s sons would be made eunuchs to serve in the palace of the king of Babylon!

Don’t ever let yourself be “taken advantage of” for any reason. Satan can use anyone to do this, even your best friend. Jesus said, “Be ye wise as serpents, harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16) Have a great day, and always beware of traps!
