“Don’t just sit there! Do something!”
In 2 Kings 7:3 is the great story of the lepers who were outside the gate of Samaria. There was a famine in the land and people were dying of starvation. But the lepers knew that their time was about up, too, because they were lepers. They came to the gate of Samaria and were in a position that they had to make a decision. This is the problem with a lot of Christians, they cannot make a decision. Have you ever been in a position where you “had to make a decision?” It was “should we do this or maybe not…” They are afraid to make a decision, thinking they will make the wrong one.
We once knew a Christian lady who wanted to go to Haiti with us, but when the time came to buy the tickets, she would keep everyone waiting because she could not make a decision! She always wanted us to think she was really spiritual because she was “waiting on God.” We told her, “You are holding up the team. If God doesn’t want you to go to Haiti, don’t you think He is big enough to stop you?”
Here were the four lepers outside the gate of Samaria. Here is what they said… “Why sit we here until we die? If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there: and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefore come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.” (2 Kings 7:3-4) They made the decision to go into the city, but when they went into the city, there was no one there. Everyone had fled and left behind, food, beautiful clothes, armor, their horses, everything!!!
When they made a decision, God could move for them! So, if you are in the “valley of decision,” don’t just sit there and do nothing! Take a step! Don’t be afraid to make that decision!! “Don’t just sit there! Do something!” When you make that decision and make a move, God will move “for you!” Have a great day!
