“Bogged Down.”
I’ve always hated walking in deep, gooey mud, especially without boots. Years ago, when we first began working in Haiti, we would often come to the mountains during the rainy season. Our vehicles were always breaking down and many times, we ended up walking in deep, gooey mud. In those days, I would wear walking boots and usually a long skirt… walking through the mountains at night, in that thick gooey Haitian mud! I remember how hard it was to pick up each foot, covered with that mud. Have you ever felt, “bogged down” with the cares of this world? Have you ever felt like it was hard to even put one foot in front of the other?
This morning, here in Haiti, I found myself singing a song I hadn’t sung since I was a child…
“He Brought Me Out of The Miry Clay…
He Set My Feet On a Rock, to Stay…
He Put a Song in My Heart today…
A Song of Praise, “Hallelujah…”
I thought to myself, “I think I’ve read a scripture about this…” Psalms 40:2 “He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.”
Today, if you feel “bogged down,” just begin to lift your hands and praise God!! He has brought you out of the “miry clay,” and He has set your feet upon a rock, called Jesus.”
Have a great day, Sherry
