Word from the Mission Field

“Open your hand wide…”

Bobby always says, “There’s nothing worse than a stingy Christian.” We have been abundantly blessed, and no matter how small a thing we have in our hand, we must “open our hand wide” to the poor.

Deuteronomy 15:7-8 declares, “If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother. But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him (give him) sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.”

There are many ways to give, and many ways to “open your hand wide.” It may be that you are asked to go a mile, and “you need to go an extra mile.” It may mean that you give your last “little bit,” or you may have to give more. It may mean that you “tip blessings” and leave at least 20 percent on the table, instead of that “lonely Gospel tract.” (That didn’t cost you anything, and you can’t buy food or diapers with a Gospel tract!)

You may be standing in line waiting to buy groceries, and maybe the Lord will speak to your heart to buy those groceries for the one in front of you or behind you. Listen with your heart and “open your hand wide.” Let God bless you!!! Have a great day! There are needs all around you, and this is God’s way of blessing you!
