Word from the Mission Field

“A Missionary’s Prayer”

In the last few years, Bobby and I have faced things that we have never faced before. Haiti is such a beautiful country with beautiful, kind, and loving people, and most of them poor. The majority of Haiti is safe with the exceptions of some areas and an area we call, “Martissaint,” which is in the Leogane area near Port-au-Prince. Gangs took over this entire area about a year ago, but it has gotten worse. Now, there is another gang called the “400 Mawozo.” They are between Fond Parisien (where we live with our children) and Croix-des-Bouquet (another gang infested area). These two areas are between us and the Port-au-Prince Airport. They are also between us and the colleges that our Love A Child children attend.

Right now, we have children that need to take a final test but cannot get to their college. I have explained to them that we “are in the hands of God.” This is the prayer of two missionaries that are living here with our Haitian children… We sometimes feel like you do, that “we are in the flood zone of problems.” Your problems, although different from ours, are still like a great flood that can sometimes seem to overwhelm you. Let me share a “Missionary’s Prayer” with you…

“For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him. Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance.” (Psalm 32:6-7)

We are still “in the hands of God” and He will NOT let the floods overcome us! Stand strong!!

We love you.
