“Secret Alms, Secret Prayer, Secret Fasting…”
In Matthew 2:18, Jesus talks about things we do in secret that our Father in Heaven sees, and things that we do before men to get their adoration and praise. When you do your alms, don’t sound a trumpet. When you pray, don’t stand praying so that everyone can see you and when you fast, don’t look unto anyone that you are fasting. These things are between our Heavenly Father and us. When the Lord spoke to Bobby to go on a long fast, we were poor and didn’t have any money to rent a place for him to fast. Our friend gave him a place that we called the “rat shack.” The windows were broken, it was cold, and he had a kerosene heater that smoked the rat-infested room up. We were flat broke, but he stayed there for 21 days, and drank only water, seeking the Lord. At the end of the fast, God spoke to him on things that changed our lives. Let’s always do our things unto the Lord, in “secret.” Blessings, Sherry
