What does your soul “pant after?” “Just how Thirsty are You?”

“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, Oh God.” Psalm 42:1 — How thirsty are you for the Lord? We have a Rottweiler named Sampson. Every morning, we let Sampson into the warehouse where everyone is working. He wrestles hard with another big dog, Charlie, and then we go for a walk around the property. Sampson and Charlie always chase a bunch of chickens and by the end of the walk, Sampson is trailing…he is strong and muscular, but he is “panting” so loud. At this time, he doesn’t want a chicken! He wants water! He is no comparison to a beautiful deer, “panting,” but I can certainly say, I understand “panting.” Today, the Lord wants us to be “so thirsty for Him, for His love, for His word, that we are panting for Him.” Be thirsty for the Lord, and He will quench your longing soul.
