“Two Sticks and a Handful of Meal…”
“But make me thereof a little cake first, and bring it unto me, and after make for thee and for thy son.” 1 Kings 17:13
Oh, really? How is God going to meet my need with that? That’s probably what the Prophet Elijah thought when the famine was in the land. Maybe Elijah thought God would send him to the home of a rich man who could take good care of him, but instead God sent him to the home of a poor widow woman, who was getting ready to “gather a handful of sticks,” and “bake her last cake” to share it with her son, so they could “eat it and die.”
We always think “God will move in the way that makes the most sense in our natural thinking.” But He is God. He does just the opposite. He wants us to know He is still the “God of miracles,” and He can use “what He wants,” “whom He wants,” and “when He wants” to make it happen! So, today, just say, “Lord, I need a miracle. You know how to make it happen! You are the God of Miracles. I don’t care how you do it. I just want to thank you ahead of time for doing it your way!” Have a great day! Sherry
