“And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.” I Kings 19:12 — We see Elijah, the Prophet of God, on the move and running from Jezebel. Elijah had killed many false Prophets and when Jezebel heard of it, she threatened to kill Elijah. God told him to go and stand upon a mountain, but God had to get his attention first with a great and strong wind that tore that mountain in half; then an earthquake; then a fire…but after the fire, a “still small voice.” Sometimes, God lets things happen to “get our attention,” so that He can speak to us, “in a still small voice.” Let’s learn to listen for that still, small voice… even a whisper.
