“If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother: But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.” Deuteronomy 15:7-8 – There are so many scriptures in the Old Testament about giving to the poor, but this should come “naturally” to anyone who has a heart of compassion. “Open your hand wide…” When you go to a restaurant, leave 20% or more! When you stay in a motel, leave a tip! When you see a poor lady at the grocery store, pay for her food. Please remember the children of Haiti who suffer from hunger each day.
