Word from the Mission Field – 12-13-17

“From the Belly of the Whale…”
Jonah is a very interesting character in the Bible. God called him to go to Nineveh to preach against the wickedness, but he rose up to flee to Tarshish from the “presence of the Lord.” What was he? Stupid? Where did he think he could go that the “presence of the Lord” would not be? Would you ever want to be somewhere, anywhere for a moment, “without the presence of the Lord?” Not me either. So, God had to put him in a place “where he would listen.” He was swallowed by a great fish and ended up down there with seaweed wrapped around his head, and all those stinking “fish things!” Talk about “sea sickness!!” Ugh. But the Bible says, “I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.” Jonah 2:2 – No matter what condition you are in today, you are never too far from God. He will hear you!!! Have a great, great day! Sherry
