I can remember the day we found Yonel like it was yesterday. We had been doing a Mobile Clinic in the mountains and a poor, elderly grandma brought Yonel and his sister to us.
His sister was too far gone to save and we were not sure Yonel would live. He was like a skeleton! We did what we could for him, and hurriedly put him in our truck to take him to our doctor at our small clinic. On the way, our driver stopped to buy some mangos and Yonel ate 9 before we got to our place!
He had finished High School and was on our “painting team” and then, he fell in love! His wife is Dominican! Shortly after they got married, Yonel and his wife went to live in the Dominican Republic. He came back today to get some paperwork he needed. I said, “Yonel, do you remember the day we found you and brought you to Love A Child?”
“Oh, yes,” he said laughing. “I ate nine mangos on the way to the orphanage!” Yonel is sweet, funny, loves the Lord, and yes, he still loves mangos!
