When we first found Yonel, it was during a Mobile Medical Clinic. We saw a thin, elderly grandma with a very skinny and boney young boy. She also said he had a baby sister who was dying. Yonel had Marasmus Malnutrition. He looked like a skeleton! We knew that if we left him in the mountains he would die. So, we agreed to take him.

On the long drive down the mountains, our little Mobile Medical Clinic Team found some mangoes on the side of the road for sale. We bought a lot! Yonel ate nine mangoes without stopping! He was starving!!!

He began to gain weight. He did well in school and finished 12th grade, but wanted to go to “Diesel / Mechanic School.” He got into trouble and we had to “send him away” from the other children… another Prodigal son!

He stayed out in a “pig pen” for about a year, and then came back and asked for forgiveness. We gave him another chance and gave him a job as a painter! He loved it! He soon fell in love and got married!!! (Praise God!) He still has a job as one of our painters… and he’s “still in love!”
