This is Yonel. We found him during a Mobile Clinic when he was about six years old. His grandma had brought him to our clinic. She explained that she had been raising these children since their parents died and she had no food to feed them. At that time, our interpreter, Robert, had told us that Yonel had been very abused by some older boys in his village and that they had put him in a sack, tied him in it, and rolled the sack down a hill. Whether or not that was true I could not tell.
One thing we know is that Yonel would have died had we not brought him home with us that day. He had severe malnutrition. This evening, Bobby and I, and the children from our Children’s Home are getting on our bus and “going to Yonel’s Wedding!” What a day this is! Our girls will be “dancing at his wedding!” What a miracle day! We will send pictures and post them tomorrow!
